Norfolk Historical Commission - History Scholarship Opportunity
for the 2016 - 17 Academic Year

The Norfolk Historical Commission is pleased to announce the opportunity for college students to apply for the NHC History Scholarship in the amount of $500.00 to help defray the cost of tuition.  Scholarship funds will be sent directly to the college/university where the recipient is enrolled.  In order to apply, the candidate must meet all qualifications and follow the application process detailed below.

Qualifications of the applicant in order to be eligible:
  • was a resident of Norfolk, Massachusetts while attending Norfolk schools
  • completed six (6) years attending Norfolk Schools with at least two of those years in Norfolk Elementary Schools.  The remaining four years of the six year requirement may include a combination of King Philip Middle and High Schools.
  • must be currently enrolled in a four year program at an accredited academic institution
  • majoring in a program in historic preservation, historical research, archaeology, or a related field of history and has successfully completed at least two years of a four year program
Application Process - The applicant must:
  • submit the application by April 30th of their sophomore and/or junior year in college
  • include an official current transcript of at least the first three semesters  
  • include two letters of reference from teachers and/or professors attesting to the student's qualifications
  • submit an essay (500 words) by the applicant detailing the reasons for selecting a history related program of study
  • send the completed application, college transcript, 2 letters of reference, and essay to
