1) Meeting minutes from 9/14/09 accepted.
2) Introduction of Chris Watson(new member)- Bob Nicodemus andcommittee members updated Chris Watson on EDC activity to date.
3) Website – Board of Selectman has approved the EDC requestto build a web page indicating available commercial/business properties intown.
Mark will contact Charles (Town Hall contracted networktechnician) to assist with adding the website page.
4) Website POC - The EDC may want to recommend alternatives tothe web site marketing information Point of Contact proposed as Jack Hathawaydue to time commitments and coordination complexity.
5) Caritas (Southwood property) meeting – Bob Nicodemus andMark Nelson visited with Bill Fleming (Caritas) and Bob Cronin (CMG RE agent)on 9/28/09. Below are notes from that meeting:
- Mark presented the status of efforts by Norfolk to adoptExpedited Permitting for the Southwood Property.
- Bob Cronin (CMG) stated that there was no market interest todate in the existing hospital-nurse school buildings complex, which has anestimated area of about 400,000 GSF. Town Water Service to the property isrequired as DOC “private well” serving Southwood Hospital is not available toprivate development programs.
- Bob Cronin (CMG) stated that the need for building demolitionand oil contamination clean-up were significant detractions to market interest.
- Mark and Bob requested better CMG graphics for thecommercial layout, which Bob Cronin agreed to send to Mark.
- Mark and Bob indicated that there could be some renewed fundingfor “brownfields” programs and that EDC would pursue.
- Bill Fleming agreed to allow Norfolk to establish aSouthwood web page.
- The EDC provided CCHS and CMG the following web site and 43Dinformation.
6) EDC budget – there have been occasion where Bob N has hadmaps/drawings reproduced as needed for our meetings. There are also occasionswhere the PB assets are used for data research purposes. The EDC budget o befurther discussed at our 10-13-09 meeting.
7) Lori will contact Mass Econ. Dev. and get posting ofopportunity listings transferred to Norfolk EDC.
8) The EDC meeting dates in October will be 10/13/09 and10/27/09.
