Norfolk Economic Development –1/21/09 Meeting Notes

1. Mr Nelson officiallyappointed at the 1/15/09 PB meeting
2. The meeting on 1/21/09preceded the ZBA Town Center presentation.
3. The EDC reviewed the map graphics(Existing + Future) to be presented to the ZBA and a list of discussion pointsregarding programs for future development and re-development of Town Center.The hand-out to the ZBA was reviewed that indicates the results of the BoS/PBrecommendations toward future Town Center development and Norfolk’s intentionto pursue the WWTF infrastructure under “Federal Stimulus Funding” for programsthat are shovel ready within 180 days.
4. We discussed that information should be reviewed after theSharon Post Office Square presentation on 1/28/09 as a prototype action listfor 43D implementation and EDC development initiatives.
5. Walter will finalize thedraft EDC Town Report to include the edits prepared by Mark. Town Report is tobe issued to Marian Harrington by 2/4/09.
6. We discussed the need toprepare an agenda for our next meeting on February 2, 2009 regarding TownReport, Spring Town Meeting Warrant Articles for B1 District expanded plus addB1 as 43D and 7 members on EDC. Warrant closes on 2/26/09.
7. Future agenda items: Review43D Grant and any supplementary proposals for recovery of $7,500 from MassDevelopment contamination research; Prepare-Review a strategy for finalizing43D Grant and procedures; future Caritas meeting with Bill Fleming; actions forcreating information on development opportunities; create approvals road mapand communications with land use boards.
8. The next meeting in January is2/02/09 with focus on EDC Town Report. Follow up meetings are scheduled for2/23/09 w/ agendas for Spring or Special Town Meeting Warrant Articles for B1District expanded plus as 43D and 7 members on EDC.
9. Bob restated that the EDCMission topics for future agenda discussion are as follows:

11. Inspire Commercial-Businessproperty development in Norfolk.
12. Establish media presence toinform regional development community of Norfolk.
13. Assist in guide lines forexpediting approvals from Norfolk’s land use Boards.
