PRESURE TREATED DECKS
House Sill Plates
Beware as of January 1, 2004 the chemicals used in treating Pressure Treated lumber have changed and it has been found to react to different metals. You should make sure they are using the proper coated nails and fasteners. Aluminum Flashing has been found to disintegrate in a matter of 6 months.
Nails should be double galvanized coating or stainless steel.
It is questionable if the Joist Hangers are coated properly.
(You may need to use a material to buffer between the hanger and the pressure treated wood.)
Lag Bolts Should Also Be Double Coated Galvanized.
Bolting of a house to the foundation needs to have a coating between the pressure treated wood and the anchor bolt.
Any Questions Please Speak With Your Supplier Of The Pressure Treated Wood.
