Please report dead birds directly to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MDPH) Public Health Information Line at 866-MASS-WNV (866-627-7968), the caller will then be prompted to press option “1”. Callers will be asked to give the species of the bird, date and time of death, street address where the bird was found, and the condition of the bird. Specimens that meet the criteria and are approved for testing will be assigned a case number for specimen tracking and the caller will then be advised to contact Norfolk Animal Control Officer at 508-528-3232 to arrange for a pick-up. Specimens without a case number will not be picked-up or accepted for WNV testing.
