Updated PowerPoint Slideshow has been created displaying the current 10-year/phase plan for new pedestrian pathways (but based on approximately $200K/yr funding). One of the proposed budget overrides remains one for 50K to be added yearly to the new Sidewalk Stabilization account. We did discuss trying to increase this again to at least a $100K/yr request…Ramesh and others see a comfort level at $50K/yr so far, and the item is now combined with overrides for vehicles and recently added high school needs at this point. Important to get the ball rolling with at least $50K/yr (which will help support funding for the first phase) and advertise the plan to voters between now and Town Meeting. Joe and Bill will be adding to the presentation the impacts on homeowner tax rate and secure support from various town groups,
cable, forums with BOS, and finally at Town Meeting. Bill and Joe plan to be at the next Recreation Commission Meeting on 4/1 (4/4?) to present the Slideshow. And we will be on the BOS calendar this month as well (3/28 – confirmed with Marian).
Chief Stone provided updated Police Traffic Incident Data, as requested by Jim Leonard on the RSC’s behalf.
Bill has data for Butch related to proposed street light locations along Boardman. Joe needs to complete acquiring pole numbers vs. balance of new lights proposed/listed.
Butch looking for feedback on current illumination of new town center street lights (too bright?/just right?). Initial observations discussed on 3/9 supports the illumination being appropriate for town center.
Joe provided draft of a short letter groups or individuals could use to show/submit any formal support for new pedestrian walkways to us and others (including the BOS).
Joe will check with Marian regarding mail out plans for Roundabout Brochures.
Next RSC Meeting 4/13. RSC will also be called into the BOS in March and April, to update progress for the pathway plan and override support. Recreation Commission Meeting tentatively scheduled for April 1, 2005.
