Computer Cost
As previously discussed, we motioned to cap the computer cost at $1200.00.  Chris McClure did order the computer through Dell.  It has arrived, unfortunately the cost was above that we had originally agreed.  Final cost $ 1321.42   Invoice # K68040046
     
Richard made a motion to increase the computer allowance from $1200.00 (originally agreed upon) to $1321.42 .

Grange Project
Guests/Presenters for the Grange: Suzanne Green, Georgia Jones, and Sue Bruno

The grange project got its start approximately 1 year ago.  With that stated Suzanne Green gives a background on the Norfolk Grange.  (History and uses)

Membership at the Grange has increased
Junior Grange has been formed
Grange is a non profit/ tax exempt facility
request for preservation act funding attached

Research
1 year ago the grange started working with preservationists / contractors to determine how to move forward with the preservation of the facility.  
Used the Community Preservation Coalition website to research other projects throughout the state with the hope of receiving information on how to proceed.
Spoke with other Grange Groups regarding their projects and how they tied their projects together.  What was eligible and what wasn’t?
Consulted with experts in Grant Management.
Requested project estimates from 3 different contractors
Met with Besty Pyne and Dedham Historical Society
Grange will offer Town of Norfolk Right of First Refusal (minus $ invested)
Question and Answers

Can the Grange be sold to the Town under the Right of First Refusal?  Yes

Have you looked at the parking situation? (Several committee members feel that the parking is
                                                 inadequate)

Have you consider asking the Town for some land from Centennial Park for additional parking?

How long will project take from start to finish? 1-1 ½ years

Is the septic system adequate?  Will it be upgraded?

Is the kitchen adequate for the potential use of the grange?  The grange would like to apply for an                                                                                      agricultural grant to upgrade the                                                                                               kitchen at a later date.

Is air conditioning necessary?  The President of the Dedham Historical Society suggests that air                                                     conditioning is important.  “Climate control for the interior of                                                           building.”   Will preserve the windows
a/c will be used when the building is in use and kept at a low temperature

Will the project fall under a committee supervision?

Will there be an Historic Preservationist hired?  Would like to hire Chris Noonan

How many people can the grange hold?  Public access permit is for a capacity of 210 people

Are you positive that the Construction Consultant/Supervisor fee is an accurate estimate?  It appears substantially low?  Will investigate and have an answer for the Feb 22, 2006 meeting
(10% project cost)

Have you draw up a spec for each contractor to guarantee that the cost will not increase after the fact?

Will there be continued fund raising at the grange?

Scott makes a motion to increase the project cost from $283,849.00 to $300,000.00
