Water System Chlorination
UPDATE 6/30/2011

On June 21, 2011, and again on June 23, 2011, one sampling site in the area of Routes 115 and 1A did return positive results for Total Coliform (TC).  Samples taken on June 27, 2011, in the area resulted in negative findings.  As a preventative measure, the MassDEP recommends the Town of Norfolk continue chlorination for the duration of the summer.  This will help prevent future TC positive results.  Chlorination will be discontinued in the fall.
Residents may experience a chlorine odor in the water until this process has been completed.  This odor will dissipate in water that is poured into a pitcher and left for 24 hours, either in the refrigerator or at room temperature. The levels of chlorine in the water will be closely monitored, and the town's website, www.virtualnorfolk.org  will be updated, under the Water System Chlorination tab which can be found on the Water Division page.
For questions or concerns, please call the Department of Public Works at (508) 528-4990.  Thank you.
