RULES AND REGULATIONS GOVERNING THE USE OF DUMPSTERS AND CONTAINERS FOR THE STORAGE OF GARBAGE AND/OR REFUSE.
IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AUTHORITY GRANTED BY THE GENERAL LAWS OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF MASSACHUSETTS, CHAPTER 111, SECTION 31, THE BOARD OF HEALTH OF THE TOWN OF NORFOLK HEREBY ESTABLISHES THE FOLLOWING RULES AND REGULATIONS RELATIVE TO THE USE OF DUMPSTERS AND CONTAINERS FOR THE STORAGE OF GARBAGE AND/OR REFUSE.
All solid waste dumpsters shall be maintained in a nuisance free manner and their location shall come under the authority of the Norfolk Board of Health.
CLOSURES REQUIRED; REFUSE ON GROUND PROHIBITED
Dumpsters shall be tightly closed, secured at all times and leak proof. Refuse on the ground, shall not be allowed.
This regulation shall apply to all dumpsters, except as noted in item 4.
The location of dumpsters shall conform to state and local fire codes.
TEMPORARY USE FOR CONSTRUCTION PURPOSES
This regulation shall not apply to dumpsters utilized for construction or demolition purposes, provided that there is a valid building or demolition permit. Dumpsters shall be removed from the site upon project completion.
VIOLATIONS AND PENALTIES
Penalties for violation of this chapter shall be in accordance with MGL Chapter 111, Sections 187 and 188, or any other penalty clauses adopted by this Board.
