Approval of Minutes
The minutes of the meetings in October and December are awaited.
Director’s Report: Mrs. Glasser reported on the following
- MBLC waiver was granted at the February meeting of the Library Commissioners.
- Grants were received from the Cultural Council for Norfolk Reads together and 2 children’s programs.
- Norfolk Reads Together in March. The theme is The Boston Strangler. Two books are available for patrons on the subject: Death in Belmont by Sebastian Junger and A Rose for Mary by Casey Sherman.
Feasibility of potential software programs for “Life Long Learning” and “educational Support” goals.
The Community Preservation Commission was approached for reimbursing the Friends for their portion of restoration of mural in Library. The Friends will give reimbursed monies for books and materials for Library.
Associate Director’s Report
Mrs. Glasser submitted this in Mrs. Bluhm’s absence. The new “people counter” was installed. The circulation numbers were down slightly.
New Business
- FY 2012 budget was submitted. We are required to do Level Funding, but to maintain step increases for staff. There “has to be” a 4% decrease. Only .8 % was possible, and this was submitted with clarity.
- A new Revenue source might be available; passport issue for Town. To date, Gail Bernardo, Town Clerk, has handled this. She cannot do it any longer, and either the Library takes it on, or we pass on the revenue generated. Pros and cons were discussed. At his point, there are no apparent cons, except for staff time. Feasibility of this being done at the Library was discussed. Training will be needed.
The next regular meeting will be on March 16, at 6.30 pm.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:10 pm.
True copy respectfully submitted
Kumkum Pareek Malik, Clerk
