Board of Library Trustees
February 18, 2010
A regular meeting of the Norfolk Library Board of Trustees was held on February 18, 2010 at the Library. In attendance were Robin Glasser, Director, Sarina Bluhm, Associate Director, and the following trustees: Harvey Boulay, Kenneth Nelson, Kumkum Malik.
Mr. Nelson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Public Comment
Maryellen Hurley and Tim Martin expressed concern that current policy does not permit Library card holders borrowing materials unless they present their card. After discussion, the Trustees determined to work with the Library staff to create a limited exception to this policy.
Director’s Report.
Mrs. Glasser reported on the following:
The Norfolk Reads Together project continues to be successful; there was a large turnout at the Middle School auditorium for author Nathaniel Philbrick’s presentation on February 2;
The certification waiver from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners has been received;
A reduced Library Incentive Grant payment was received;
Andrea Ingala and Connie Jones are submitting a state grant application for a children’s program, “Mother Goose on the Loose.”
Associate Director Report.
Ms. Bluhm reported on Library activity for January, 2010 as follows: Self-check – 42% of circulation. Total circulation for the month: 8954 items and 1210patron visits. 32 meetings were held at the library.
Friends Report.
Mrs. Glasser reported that the Friends membership drive is getting a good response. The Book & Bake Sale committee is in full operation. Requests for corporate sponsorships for this event are going out early this year with some commitments already in.
New Business.
The annual Town Report copy is due.
Old business.
The trustees discussed the FY’2011 budget.
