Board of Library Trustees
October 15, 2009
A regular meeting of the Norfolk Library Board of Trustees was held on October 15, 2009 at the Library. In attendance were Robin Glasser, Director, Sarina Bluhm, Associate Director, and the following trustees: Harvey Boulay, Kenneth Nelson.
Mr. Nelson called the meeting to order at 6:05 p.m.
Approval of Minutes.
The minutes of the meeting of September 17, 2009 were approved.
Director’s Report.
Mrs. Glasser reported on the following:
The Library Financial and Compliance Waiver has been submitted to the Mass. Board of Library Commissioners;
The inventory of the library holdings is complete. A record low of missing items was noted;
The new telephone system is still not functional;
Grant application from Middlesex Savings rejected;
Michael Tougias presentation on “Finest Hours” next Wednesday;
Kumkum’s workshop for mothers begins Oct.25;
New email format for keeping in contact with patrons.
Associate Director Report.
Ms. Bluhm reported on Library activity for the September, 2009 as follows: Self-check – 44% of circulation. Total circulation for the month: 8700 items and 1,243 patron visits. 31 meetings were held at the library.
Friends Report.
Mrs. Glasser reported that the Friends are continuing to make progress in their nonprofit reporting requirements.
New Business.
Mrs. Glasser recommended that following library schedule changes: December 24 through December 26 closed. The Trustees VOTED to approve this change.
The Trustees discussed a possible relationship with Amazon.com as a portal on the Library website and other measures to increase non-Town revenue.
Old business. Fy’2011 budget. The Trustees and staff discussed, generally, the implications of the budgets for 2010 and 2011.
Next regular trustee meeting – November 19, 2009 at the Norfolk Library historic schoolhouse room.
