Board of Library Trustees
April 16, 2009

A regular meeting of the Norfolk Library Board of  Trustees was held on April 16, 2009 at the Library. In attendance were Robin Glasser, Director, Sarina Bluhm, Associate Director, Kumkum Malik, Associate Trustee, and the following trustees: Harvey Boulay, Kenneth Nelson.

Mr. Nelson called the meeting to order at 6:10 p.m.

Approval of Minutes.
The minutes of the meeting of  March 19, 2009 were approved.

Director’s Report.
Mrs. Glasser reported that the Norfolk Community League funded the Science Museum pass, but not the mural restoration project.

Associate Director Report.  
Ms. Bluhm reported on Library activity for the previous month as follows: Self-check – 46% of circulation, same as last March; Total circulation for the month: 9,889 items and 1,445 patron visits. 55 meetings were held at the library.

Schoolhouse Project.  Exterior painted; received occupancy permit 5/16/09. Awaiting delivery of final  furnishings

Friends Report. In Mary Jo Gothorpe’s absence Mrs. Glasser reported that final preparations are underway for annual book & bake sale 4/24 & 25

New business.  Recommend allocating LIG/MEG funds to restore mural ($5,000) Friends have pledged the other half. The Trustees VOTED to make the appropriation.

Mrs. Glasser recommended changing meeting room use policy to allow use by businesses & for-profits during off-peak hours (daytime) and charging an hourly use fee. A fee schedule be developed and presented at the May meeting.

Old business.  Fy’2010 budget – met with Advisory Board ~on 4/09. Jack Hathaway reported that House budget includes a reduction in Local Aid (less than Governor’s budget) and no Prison mitigation funds

Next regular trustee meeting – May 21st

The meeting adjourned with a tour of the completed Schoolhouse Room.
