Meeting of the Norfolk Public Library Board of Trustees
March 19, 2009
A regular meeting of the Norfolk Public Library Board of Trustees was held on March 19, 2009 at the Norfolk Public Library. In attendance were Robin Glasser, Library Director; Sarina Bluhm, Associate Director, Kumkum Malik, Associate Trustee; and the following Trustees; Harvey Boulay, Mary Jo Gothorpe, and Kenneth Nelson.
Mary Jo Gothorpe called the meeting to order at 6.15 P.M.
Approval of Minutes
Approval of the meeting minutes for February 19, 2009 were VOTED.
Director’s Report
Application for grant from Mass. Board of Library Commissioners for community-wide read in 2010 was submitted for $7.300. Response likely in June.
Early Childhood Resources Center (ECRC) programs drawing excellent attendance. Connie Jones is scheduling remainder of programs.
The Norfolk Community League application for funds for the mural restoration: expect response in April.
Michael Tougias presentation drew 54 persons.
Associate Director’s Report
Sarina Bluhm reported on February circulation activity. There were 39 meeting room uses. Circulation for the month was 9856 with 1301 patron visits. The self-checkout percentage was 47% for February, with a high of 67% on February 27.
Schoolhouse Room
Harvey Boulay reported that work is almost complete and is working with the Historical Commission on furnishing and displays. Robin Glasser noted that Mass. Prison Industries may have the table and chairs ready in time for the re-dedication on April 19.
Old Business
Mrs. Glasser and the Trustees will meet with the Advisory Board on March 19. Discussions about a re-start of shared services with the School Department are continuing, but no concrete proposals have yet emerged.
Friends of the Library Report
Mary Jo Gothorpe reported that the main focus of energy and activity is the April 25 Annual Book and Bake Sale.
New Business
The Trustees reviewed proposed permanent donor recognition plaques.

The next meeting is scheduled for April 16, 2009 at 6:00 P.M. at the Norfolk Public Library.
Adjournment
There being no further business it was moved and seconded and the Trustees VOTED to adjourn the meeting at 7:00 P.M. to inspect the schoolhouse room.
