SPECIAL MEETING
June 25, 2007
Present is Jonathan P. Smith, Ramesh H. Advani, James C. Lehan and Jack Hathaway, Town Administrator.
Jonathan called the meeting to order at 7:34 p.m. This meeting is for the sole purpose of discussing Conservation Commission appointments.
Jonathan asked Ramesh if he had a motion. Ramesh replied no. Jonathan asked Jim if he had a motion. Jim said he did not.
Jonathan stated that it was in the best interest of the Board and the community to reopen for resumes and/or letters of interest, and we will conduct interviews for potential candidates on July 23rd.
Ramesh read a statement he had prepared in context of our last meeting and his decision not to make a motion this evening.
Jim said that we need to move beyond this and has received phone calls. He said he asked every candidate the same question, and was looking for the word “fair”. He did not hear it. He does not feel they are working collaboratively.
Jonathan said we are looking forward. He would like anyone interested to apply to the Selectmen’s Office by July 18th. All applicants will be treated with respect and courtesy. He said that he has heard this appointment process called a “no-brainer” and he said it is not a term he would use. It is very complex.
At 7:53 p.m., being no further business, Ramesh Advani moved to adjourn the meeting. Jim Lehan seconded, and it was so voted.
