Present was James C. Lehan, Jonathan P. Smith and Jack Hathaway, Town Administrator. Ramesh H. Advani was absent.
Jim called the meeting to order at 7:07 p.m.
The Selectmen discussed the budget and prospective meeting of the Advisory Board and School Committee on April 26, 2007 and the relevant parameters:
$30,000 anticipated revenue from busing
$ 4,000 in start up costs
$10,000 in road work
Jim Lehan would give the School Committee an additional $16,000 and pick up $10,000 in road work. Has $4,000 been encumbered?
Jim Lehan moved to authorize Jonathan Smith to negotiate an increase sum of $20,000 cash to the School Committee budget and commit $10,000 improvements to the school driveway from the road program before the beginning of the next school year. It was amended to $30,000 to the School Committee, a combination of cash and to have a one year delay in bus fee implementation. Jonathan Smith seconded and it was so voted.
Jonathan Smith moved to accept the contract with the State for the Chapter 90 funds. Jim Lehan seconded and it was so voted.
Jonathan Smith moved to approve the contract renewal for Fire Chief Coleman Bushnell to be effective from July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2010. Jim Lehan seconded and it was so voted.
Jonathan Smith reported that the negotiation process for purchasing property from the Federated Church for public safety purposes began today. Initially, three appraisals will be obtained and reviewed by Jonathan and Jack.
At 7:55 p.m., being no further business, Jonathan Smith moved to adjourn the meeting. Jim Lehan seconded and it was so voted.
