SPECIAL MEETING
March 12, 2007
Present was James C. Lehan, Ramesh H. Advani, Jonathan P. Smith and Jack Hathaway, Town Administrator.
Jim Lehan opened the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
This is a special meeting exclusively for a budget review.
Present was Jane Wall, Finance Director; Fire Chief Cole Bushnell; Jim Tomaszewski, Chair - Advisory Board; and Police Chief Charles Stone.
Jack started the presentation by explaining the fixed costs and operating costs for education.
Ramesh explained that the health benefits and various other benefits for the School department are included in the total cost. It is not within the School budget.
Jonathan asked what the prison mitigation funds could be used for. Jack said strictly for capital items only. The State mandated what it could be used for. We cannot use it for operating.
Jim explained that the stated goal of the board is to provide financial stability to the town and not decrease any services. They would also present a balanced budget.
Jonathan reviewed the schools.
Jim reviewed the public safety.
The Board reviewed the articles for town meeting.
Jonathan Smith moved to close the 2007 Warrant. Ramesh Advani seconded, and it was so voted.
At 10:10 p.m. being no further business, Jonathan Smith moved to adjourn the meeting. Ramesh Advani seconded, and it was so voted.
