SPECIAL MEETING

January 9, 2012

Present was James M. Tomaszewski, James C. Lehan, Robert J. Garrity, and Jack Hathaway, Town Administrator.

Also present was Jeff Palumbo, Planning Board and Rep. Daniel Winslow.

The meeting was held at the H. Olive Day School Auditorium at 6 p.m.

There were approximately 60-70 people in attendance.  Jim Tomaszewski introduced the above people.  This meeting was to discuss casinos coming to the area, which would affect Norfolk.

Jim T. read the letter from the Board of Selectmen and Town Administrator to the Board of Selectmen in Foxborough and made remarks about the agenda for tonight.

Rep. Dan Winslow provided a history of his dealings with the Kraft group.  He originally asked the Kraft group to be transparent and honest with the neighbors.  This has not happened.

Rep. Winslow encouraged the Foxboro Selectmen to vote no.  He believes that a resort casino would change the character of our communities.  The applicants will not go quietly into the night, as they said they would.

Rep. Winslow encouraged people to band together via “People Power” to support Foxboro to avoid a casino.  He touched on the fight that Norfolk and Walpole had against the sludge dump and were successful.

The Board then took questions from the audience.

At 8:10 p.m., being no further business, Rob Garrity moved to adjourn the meeting.  Jim Lehan seconded, and it was so voted.

This is a true and accurate report of the Special Meeting of January 9, 2012.
