Hi,  I’m Heidi the Hydrant. 
 
Will you please consider adopting me or one of my many cousins in town?  We live alone in the streets, and are not able to take care of ourselves.  If you become my parent, you can buy a reflective marker for me, so that firefighters and other important people can see me easily if I am covered by snow, brush or other debris.  But seeing me is only half the battle – I have to be clear so the firefighters can get my water to their hoses if there is a fire emergency!
 
If you would help to keep a 3’ area around me clear of snow and other debris, it would really help me to do my job of supplying water quickly in case of emergency!  And, during 2007, if you send in “before & after” pictures of me after you’ve cleared me of snow or overgrowth, you will receive a prize!
